How Asher Started

At the age of three, Asher became fascinated with watching his local meteorologist share the forecast every morning. He wouldn’t let his mother leave the house without telling her if she needed to take a raincoat or umbrella just in case.

Growing up, Asher’s habit persisted and his mother told him, “I just know you’ll be a weather man.”

Fast forward to high school, and Asher realized he was terrible at math. However, English and writing suited him better. He ditched the idea of becoming a meteorologist and joined his first broadcasting class in high school.

When he started college at The University of Alabama, Asher was hired on at WVUA 23 News as a production assistant. On his first shift, he was tasked with running the teleprompter.

Asher quickly rose through the ranks and found himself in front of the camera. At 20 years old, Asher anchored his first show in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Asher’s latest position has landed him in the field as a reporter at WKRG News 5 in Mobile, Alabama.
